The Power of Song Inc.'s CEO September Penn recorded a segment on Bay News 9 with RaeChelle Davis Friday to announce the 2017 production of Sounds of the Civil Rights Movement: The Power of Song.

In addition to the Bay News 9 recording, The Palladium Theater posted the event on its website Friday, moving the production into full swing. The event includes the 2017 Power of Song Music contest for K-12 students in Pinellas County who can compete for $850 in cash prizes. The deadline is Dec. 2.

Penn is in rehearsals and production planning this weekend in preparation for the three St. Petersburg shows 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Jan. 8 and 7 p.m. Jan. 9. Tickets are free and available at The Palladium Theater box office on a first-come, first-served basis.
